Somewhere between iron will and soft earth—there I am.
This piece is a tribute to the Keweenaw, a place that has quietly shaped me over the years. I painted it with copper in the palette and history on my mind—the strength of the copper miners who carried so much on their backs, and the resilience of the Ojibiwe people who walked this land before them. The layers are scraped, pressed, and weathered like the land itself. Grit and grace aren’t opposites here. They live side by side—just like they always have.
Details:
- oil over acrylic on canvas
- 60 x 60 inches
- unframed
Artwork arrives ready to hang with a Certificate of Authenticy.
